Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and the most popular of the Char Dhams of Uttarakhand. Located at 3,583 m, it demands a serious trek (or helicopter ride) but rewards you with one of the most powerful spiritual atmospheres in India.
When does Kedarnath open in 2026?
The temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya (late April / early May) and closes on Bhai Dooj after Diwali (late October / early November). Confirm exact 2026 dates with the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee or your travel agent.
The peak rush is May, June and September. The monsoon months (July–August) bring landslide risk and route closures.
